Wilbert McClinton Obituary

Wilbert Henry McClinton was born on September 22, 1922 in Richburg, South Carolina to the late Melton J. and Nannie Mae Campbell McClinton and passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Brookside Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Roslyn, Pa. When Wilbert was a young boy, his family moved to North Carolina where he attended the public school system of Forsyth County and was a graduate of Atkins High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Wilbert grew up in a home with an emphasis on Bible Study, and at an early age accepted Christ and was baptized at Beulah Tabernacle Holiness Church in Winston-Salem, N.C. Wilbert or "Mac", as he was sometimes called, was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Italy during WWII earning him the rank of Sargent in the 365th Infantry, along with 2 Bronze Stars, a Victory Medal, EAMET Campaign Medal, and American Theater Campaign Medal. After his Honorable discharge in 1945 he moved to Philadelphia. He retired from Sears Roebuck & Company after 43 years of employment. On March 13, 1953, Wilbert was United in marriage to the late Elsie Biggs McClinton. In 1958 Wilbert, with the help of his wife and father-in-law, built a family home in North Hills, Pa. He also built a log cabin clubhouse for their four children and their friends in the community. After moving to North Hills he united with the Antioch Baptist Church. In later years Wilbert attended Christ Tabernacle Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pa.
