Suzette M. Shivers

Suzette Shivers was born March 11, 1961, in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late Charles Shivers and Bertha Shivers. Suzette was a kind spirit and loving sister. She was a strong minded, caring, fun, and warm. She was also social, active, and deeply loved by family and friends. Most of all, she was outgoing, enjoyed life and she loved helping others.

She graduated from Gratz High School in Philadelphia, and later obtained a Technical Diploma from Job Corp. While in her travels with job corp, she had the opportunity to assist in dinner preparations at the governor's mansion in Virginia. She was able to attend the University of Virginia for a period of time.

When she returned home to Philadelphia, she accepted a position at Einstein Hospital. She later transitioned to an appointment with the United States Post Office, as well as a position at Downey's Restaurant. During her employment at Downey's, she became injured which lead to her becoming
Permanently disabled.

Suzette Shivers' life friend, was relinquished on the evening of April 1st ,2016. She is survived by her loving friend, William Hammond, whom she called "My Husband". Her sisters , Francis (Ronald Francis) of North Carolina, Lisa Meyers (Devon Meyers, Sr.) of Georgia, and Nancy Brown (Clifford Brown) of North Carolina. Her one special uncle, Bishop Newton Pullian (who called her "Little Bit"), and his wife Naomi Pullian. Twenty-four nephews and nieces, and a host of cousins, especially Cousin Betty Lupton of New Jersey. Finally, she is survived by her neighbors of the 1900 block of Bristol Street, especially her sister/friend Alice Jackson.
