Rose Haskins was born on December 21, 1931 to the late Alexander Briggs and Susie Norwood Briggs in South Boston, Virginia, she was the eldest of 11 children in that union.
Rose attended Public High School at Booker T. Washington in South Boston, Virginia. She also accepted Christ and joined Jeters Chapel Baptist Church in Omega, Virginia. After High School she was united in marriage to Leroy Haskins. To this union one daughter, Gloria Haskins was born. She later moved to Philadelphia where she was employed by Tribune Laundry and Modern Laundry from which she later retired.
She loved helping others, playing bingo and traveling to the casino's. She loved to cook and attend Family gatherings, being with family was her pride and joy.
She also was an avid lottery player, and she pretty much got back what she gave.
She is survived by her daughter Gloria Haskins-Williams (Tony) of Philadelphia, her grandson Bryan (Lucretia) of Delaware, her great grandsons Esheem, Dante, and Jamir and great
granddaughter Bryana, great great grandson Trent. She also leaves behind 6 sisters Janie Brown of Philadelphia, Mildred Patterson (Ray) of Delaware, Frances Batts of Philadelphia, Maria Scott of South Boston, Yvonne Paniel of Maryland, Ann Coleman of Florida, and Linda Briggs (Phil) of North Carolina; Two brothers William Briggs (Bernadette) of Woodbridge, Va., and Reginald Briggs of North Carolina. Other siblings whom preceded her in death are three brothers James Briggs, Abraham Briggs, and Wilkins Bud Briggs and one sister Mary Briggs. She had a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins all whom were very dear to her heart. Also a few special friends Elizabeth Simpton, Gwendolyn Nellon, and Tameka Anderson.
