Ollie Lee Lloyd

Ollie Lee Lloyd born Sept 26, 1929 in Fort Motte, South Caroline to the late Herbert Lloyd Sr. and Idella Bryant Lloyd. Ollie was the third child of eight children, Maybell Larrymore, Herbert Jr (deceased), Sadie Jackson (deceased), Willie Ed (deceased), Idella Riley, Adaline Johnson and Vasteena Major. He was educated in Calhoun County school system in Fort Motte, South Carolina. After leaving home to seek work, Ollie found employment at a Steele plant in Akin, South Carolina. Later he met and married Annie Brown (deceased) and to this union, Ollie Jr was born. Ollie then relocated to New York, where he worked as a construction worker. After a long and wonderful courtship, he married Bessie Lorene Hodge. The two were inseparable and family often referred to them as Love Birds. Ollie enjoyed his Saturday outings. Whether he was with his nephew Charlie Jr (deceased) running around, brother-in-law Marvin (deceased) telling stories or with his granddaughter Selena on his hip you knew when he arrived, he'd enter through the door with a big smile. He was known for coming to the homes of family and friends ready to have a good time and doing the James Brown dance. Ollie and Bessie moved to Philadelphia a few years after Ollie became ill. This filled their need to be close to their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Making new friends came with ease; his winning smile stole everyone's heart he met. Ollie was a man of few words; however, his expressions spoke volumes. When he sat you down to chat and the smile diminished, you knew he met business. He had a soft spot and tried to do anything in his power to ease your pain. He would even sneak to help you, knowing that trouble was on the way if Bessie found out. Ollie was happy, cheerful, loving man. Those who knew him will always cherish his kindness and loving ways. He will truly be missed, never forgotten and definitely never replaced. Ollie was preceded in death by his loving wife Bessie Lorene. He leaves to cherish his loving memories his sisters Maybell Larrymore of St. Martins South Carolina, Idella Riley, Adaline Johnson, and Vesteena Major of New York, his son Ollie Jr. (Theresa), daughter Nancy, granddaughter Selena and great grandson Lavier, his son Samuel (Trina) grandson Timothy (Ericka) and great granddaughters Dea'Junea and Elondrice, great grandson Elias, and great great granddaughter Lorraine Nylah Rae -
