Maudi Moore Obituary

Maudie Lee (Parker) Moore was born September 19, 1919 in Bartow, Georgia to the late Charles and Marie (Sneed) Parker. She was educated in the Georgia Public School System, and was such a bright student that she was allowed to skip a grade. Maudie met John Henry Moore at the young age of 15, and the couple married August 14, 1934. While living in Bartow, Georgia, John and Maudie had four children, John, Dora, Hattie, and Narvie. When their youngest child was in elementary school, they moved the family to Philadelphia, PA. Upon moving to Philadelphia, John and Maudie had five more children, Maudie, Betty, Sherman and Jacqueline. Maudie held several jobs before deciding to become a full-time homemaker. This was the role she enjoyed most, and it reflected throughout her family and home. Maudie loved the Lord from a very young age. She accepted Christ as her Savior while residing in Georgia, and after relocating to Philadelphia, united with the Bold Springs Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the late Reverend Isadore Cullen. Maudie was a devoted member serving on the Senior Choir and Usher Board until her health failed and she was unable to attend church regularly. There was nothing more precious to Maudie than God's word and she diligently read her bible and sacred devotionals on a daily basis. Maudie was preceded in death by her husband of more than 45 years, John H. Moore, Sr.; an infant daughter; son, John H. Moore, Jr.; and daughters, Hattie Shoultz and Betty Moore. Known for her gentle spirit, kindness and bright smile, Maudie will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Dora Lee Jackson of Bartow, GA; Narvie Lee Moore-Burch (Robert); Maudie Lee Moore; and Jacqueline Moore, all of Philadelphia, PA; one son, Sherman Moore (Barbara) of Lansdale, PA; daughter-in-law, Elaine Moore of Irvington, NJ; and a host of relatives and friends.
