I was born on January 10, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA. My earliest childhood memory is of me being raised by my beloved late Aunt, Sallie Alino, and my beloved late father, James Teagle. During that time, my father met and married the woman I knew as my mother, Elizabeth Teagle. For 70 years Mom and I shared a very special mother and daughter bond. We loved each other deeply, and shared a lifetime of great memories, and good times together. I am grateful that it was through Mom that I attended Tenth Memorial Baptist Church in my early childhood years, and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
After graduating from Simon Gratz HS in 1956, I started working as a waitress at Greens Restaurant on Columbia Avenue. I enjoyed the interaction with my frequent customers and became well known for my friendly demeanor. I went on to work in the hospitality industry for over 45 years. My favorite aspect of my job was planning birthday, and other celebrations for my friends and family. I LOVE birthday celebrations, and always found it important to celebrate the day that God blessed you with the gift of life.
God Blessed my life abundantly, and allowed me to give birth to 4 handsome boys, Rudolph, Darryl, Richard (Bunnie), and Julius (Poochie) and one beautiful daughter, Tanya. I never knew my birth mother, and as a young child I promised myself that if God ever blessed me with children that each of them would know the meaning of both a mother's love, and unconditional love. I hope you all know how much I loved you with every fiber of my soul. I tried hard to give you the best that I had of myself, and to always be available whenever you needed me....
In addition to my birth children, I loved Anissa and Robert Parks as my children. Nissa you became my right hand and I do not know how I would have made it through the last 5 years without you. I never imagined that you would have to care for me the way you did, and I appreciate you and love you more than words can ever describe. You have been my rock, and a true testament of God's Love.
After retiring from the hospitality industry in 1994, I enjoyed spending time with my grandchildren. I hope you all know that each of you hold a special place in my heart, and that Nana will always be with you. Please hold on to our memories of shopping at the thrift stores, going to breakfast, and just hanging around laughing and talking.
It is my prayer that all of my dear friends and family will continue to keep me in your fondest of memories. I enjoyed the time we spent together, and am grateful to God for each and every moment.
Carrying on my legacy; my two sons Richard Johnson, and Julius Goldsmith (Tynetta), (my sons Darryl and Rudolph Goldsmith both preceded me in death).
