Gloria A. Gorham-Brennan

Gloria A. Gorham-Brennan was born on November 3, 1929 in Greensboro, North Carolina to the late Haven Gorham-Forman. Gloria was one of four children, two brothers, Sherman and Edward, one sister Elsie, all who preceded her in death. Gloria moved to Philadelphia at a young age, and was raised in South Philadelphia. She was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. When Gloria was a teenager, her family relocated to the Frankford section of the city where she completed her education at Frankford High School. Later on, she completed Nursing school where she graduated with honors receiving her CNA. Gloria worked for the Philadelphia School Board for many years until her retirement. On July 7th 1947 Gloria was blessed with a daughter, who she named Beatrice and on January 26, 1961, her second daughter Tonga was born. Gloria was a loving and devoted mother to her children. In spring of 1951, she met and married the late Martell Brennan. Gloria accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of Second Baptist Church of Frankford. She later joined Philippian Baptist Church where the Rev. Clayton Furlow is the residing Pastor. Gloria loved her church and working for the Lord. She was a member of the Pastor Choir, singing to the Glory of the Lord. Gloria was a faithful member for 30 years, but due to illness, she was unable to attend services regularly. To her family and all who knew her, she was a kind and loving person, but could be feisty at times, and had a smile that would warm your heart. She leaves to cherish her memory; Beatrice Gorham (Philadelphia), Tonga Ruffin (Ricky) of Wilson, North Carolina. Two granddaughters Yvette and Elsie Gorham, three great grandchildren Jayne', Charles, and Christopher, three great-great grandsons, God daughter Anglia Collins, two sister in-laws, Ester Gorham and Mildred Forman and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends, and two devoted friends Doris Duke and Glades Robinson.
