Elizabeth Teagle

On January 12, 1916 in Edgefield S.C., Elizabeth Young Teagle was born to the late Rev. Samuel and Mamie Jones Young. Elizabeth Young Teagle answered the call to come home on Wednesday January 14, 2015 after spending one night at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. She attended school at Mt. Sinai in Aikens, S.C and Betty's Academy in Edgefield, S.C. Elizabeth affectionately know as Lizzie moved to Philadelphia, Pa. in her early 20s where she met and married the late James Teagle. Their union was brief, but her deep love and friendship with her many in-laws continued on until her earthly departure. The most profound relationship was with that of her daughter, Margaret Goldsmith whom she loved dearly. Elizabeth loved the Lord, and for many years was a faithful and active member of the Tenth Memorial Baptist Church. At Tenth Memorial she enjoyed singing on the choir, and was a member of the Flower Club. Elizabeth worked in the housekeeping department at the Benjamin Franklin Hotel in Philadelphia, Pa. for forty five years. Upon her retirement she traveled often with her friends and family to many different places around the world. Her favorite trip was going "Home" to Aiken, S.C. for family reunions. In S.C. she would visit her siblings and many other beloved family members. Her latter years were spent between her home of 60 years, and what she considered to be her "other home" Margaret's house. Elizabeth was a beloved classy women who loved and enjoyed life. She has left everlasting memories of wonderful times shared, great stories, and much love with all of her family and friends. We are all grateful for the blessing of her presence in our lives and she will forever be etched in our hearts. Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory; her beloved daughter, Margaret Goldsmith, four grandchildren Tanya Williams (Shawn Williams), Julius Goldsmith (Tynetta Goldsmith), Anissa Parks (Richard Polk), Richard Johnson. 10 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; many beloved nieces including Kathleen Brown, Sadie Rose, Delores Jackson, and Helen Irwin; Many beloved nephews including her most devoted Roosevelt (Roosie) Smith, and Willie Rayford along with a host of many many other beloved relatives. She is the last of her 13 siblings that preceded her in death.
