Doris Ann Knox affectionately known to her close friends and relatives as "Lena" was born June 24, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the 3rd child of the late John Q Williams Sr. and Annabelle (Bailey) Williams. She was proceeded in death by her siblings, Margaret, George and Frank.
Doris was always loving and outgoing. Even as a child she was popular and engaged in many activities. Her wonderful personality and warm ways attracted countless friends and formed bonds that were never broken. She loved singing and children always "adopting" little ones and making them a part of the family. She was destined to become a wonderful mother.
Doris attended Schenley high school and took pride and joy in singing on the school choir. She graduated from Schenley in 1959 and went on to attended Ella-Reen Beauty School where she became a licensed cosmetologist. She and her older sister Margaret moved to Philadelphia in the early 1960's to seek their fortunes. Doris's dreams were fulfilled after meeting her future husband Olin P Knox Sr. They were united in holy matrimony. From this union they had two children Enid Yvette and Olin Jr. They were married for 42 years before Olin Srs death in 2009. Enid, her first born and the apple of everyones eyes passed away in 2003.
Doris began studying the bible with Jehovahs Christian Witnesses and was baptized in 1971. She then spent her life joyfully attending Christian meetings and doing GODS work of spreading the word of his kingdom.
Doris is survived by her son Olin Knox Jr of Philadelphia. A brother John Q Williams(Jan) and two sisters Anna Marie Williams and Beverly Jean
Gaskins all of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 8 grandchildren Edward, Christopher, Shaheed, Brandon, LaSheena, Jessica, Olivia and Vesta. 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
